Meet the Tracy and du Plessis Team
GRANT TRACY – OWNER
As a youngster Grant had the privilege of working as a labourer with a game capture team during school holidays, where he gained invaluable knowledge due to the hands on nature of his job. In the late 1980’s he joined the industry full time where he co-started a capture team that he managed for 5 years.
In 1994, he and the late Jerry du Plessis started Tracy & du Plessis Game Capture. This company has grown into a world leading entity and Grant continues to push the boundaries in his innovative approach in an ever-changing environment.
Today Grant and Colette Tracy continue to run the company as a team, cementing relationships with many long-standing clients throughout Southern Africa.
NGUBO JOHAN GUMEDE – GRANT’S RIGHT HAND MAN
Capture season signals the start of a country-wide nomadic lifestyle and the capture team, under the guidance of Gumede, is legendary in setting up boma sites with skill and speed, no matter how hostile the terrain. Gumede has successfully built the TDP team into a dynamic and competent unit.
RICHARD MPANZA – HEAD DRIVER AND FLEET MANAGER
The drivers ensure that captured game reaches the destination safe and sound, providing excellent support for the capture team. Richard Mpanza joined the company in 1996. A game scout in his youth in Zululand, his vast bush knowledge and ethics filter down to the drivers and conductors who assist him.
NEW TO THE TEAM: ANNETJIE VAN ZYL, MARKETING
Annetjie has recently joined the team to assist Grant and Garth on the marketing side of things. She is responsible for looking after permit applications as well as our social media and will be your first contact for all enquiries. Highly enthusiastic and rapidly finding her feet, Annetjie is already hard at work on extending our existing client base.
Woods Aviation, with their powerful and versatile R44’s, is essential to complete the capture portfolio. John Blythwood has over 30 years’ experience in game capture and is one of the industry’s most experienced pilots. Harry Hensberg apprenticed under John Blythwood.
GARTH SAVILLE – MARKETING MANAGER
Garth has handled all aspects of buying, selling, marketing and permit requirements for TDP’s extensive customer base for 17 years. Garth’s meticulous attention to detail and his knowledge of the industry ensures excellent service. Well known country-wide as he attends most auctions, Garth is most definitely the “front man.” His dedication and commitment to the company and clients makes him a pivotal part of the team.
After several years in the field with the team, Colette manages the home office and farm, working in tandem with Grant and Garth when they are on the road. With a diploma in horticulture and bush experience behind her, any game held on the farm is in capable hands.
She is ably assisted by SANCHIA MAGUIRE with accounts and administration. With 16 years’ experience in the tourism industry Sanchia brings with her an ingrained service ethic and commitment to conservation.
In addition to excellent business delivery Grant and Colette always extend a genuine Zululand welcome to customers and colleagues passing through Hluhluwe. Convivial evenings on the veranda have cemented many business relationships into long standing friendships.
